The Kentucky Derby, located in Louisville, is a must-visit as it is the most prestigious annual horse race competition in the United States, especially since thoroughbreds are a Kentucky specialty. The most prestigious American horse race, also known in the US as "The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports" or "The Fastest Two Minutes in Sports" because of its approximate duration.

Right in the middle of downtown, free concerts and live music performances take place every Thursday during warm months (which in Kentucky can stretch from March to October). It is walking distance from campus and a perfect spot to relax and have fun after a long day of classes.

Distillery District is home to two working bourbon distilleries on the historic site, which serves as an anchor for the up-and-coming neighborhood.
